No matter where you live, you have probably noticed cars driving around with Montana license plates. You also may have noticed that all of the license plates have completely different designs- Why is that?

In addition to the five standard license plate designs available, Montana has over 200 sponsored plate options to choose from! The extra fees generated from these sponsored plates support many nonprofit and charity organizations in the state of Montana. Organizations run the gamut from first responder and law enforcement organizations to wildlife and land management groups to educational and youth support groups- No matter what cause is important to you, you're sure to find a plate to support it!

What about veteran and active-duty military plates?

While vehicles owned by individuals who have or are currently serving in the military are eligible to obtain veteran, active duty, or reserve plates, vehicles owned by LLCs are not eligible. Since the LLC is listed as the owner, these plates cannot be obtained because the LLC itself is not a veteran or service member.

How about disabled/handicapped plates?

Disabled/handicapped plates cannot be obtained for LLC-registered vehicles for the same reason that military/veteran plates cannot- The LLC is the owner, and the LLC itself is not disabled.

Can I get sponsored plates for my motorcycle or ATV?

There are only two plate options available for motorcycles and ATVs: Standard and Chrome for Kids.

How do I get sponsored plates?

It's easy! Simply visit Montana's MVD License Plate Information page to browse all the available designs. When you enter your vehicle registration request on our website, check the box for Sponsored Plate under the Special Requests section. Enter the name of your chosen plate design, and Montana Corporate will take care of the rest!

Can I change my plate design later?

Absolutely! Just give us a call at (406) 204-2167, and we can obtain a new plate design for you at any time!
